232/365 - Paper Hook (?)
I found this vintage hook at a local thrift store and thought it would like nice somewhere around our house. I think it's wrought iron-- but even if not, I liked it and thought it worth the 59 cents.
However, I wasn't sure why the "hook" part was so sharp. (You can't tell very well in the photo, but it's sharp enough pierce the skin, if you aren't careful. I plan on making and gluing on a small polymer clay cap to make it safer.)
I thought maybe the sharp tip had something to do with catching and holding old-fashioned gentlemen's hats, but after a little googling, I found this same exact design of hook for sale on Etsy (for $35), described as a "Victorian Wall Hook / Paper Hook"-- one of those things people used to impale their bills or receipts on to keep them all in one place. I don't know if that person knows what s/he's talking about, but still-- interesting!
