344/365 - Turtle

We have only managed to see the pond turtle once, despite stomping on the pier, conversing, and even calling him (or her?) by name. (It's "Turtle", if you're wondering).

The one day we did see him, he very obligingly paddled right through the pond's reflection of a small bit of rainbow. (Swimming through rainbows! What luxury!)

101/365 - Baby Turtle

I found this baby turtle while we walked Saturday afternoon. (I very nearly stepped on it!) S/he was turned upside down in the middle of the trail. Donald picked it up and moved it off the path.

Comparing the photos to some found online, I think it's a baby box turtle. We don't see turtles that often. I think we've found one (full-grown) box turtle in our yard before, and that's it, so it was a treat to find this tiny one.
