135/365 - Denim Rag Quilt

135/365 - Denim Rag Quilt

This lap quilt has gotten a lot of use, this winter. It stays in the main room-- for use on the couch or at the computer.

I took this (somewhat blurry) photo first thing in the morning-- when I noticed and liked how the light struck this quilt on a slant-- and that was it for the day. Not a single photo more. When I thought about Project 365 later on, it was dark and I was apathetic.

I've gotten lazy about this project. Sure, I take at least one photo every day (except for that one day I missed a while back), but in general, the photos I take now are less deliberate and interesting than the ones I took earlier in the project. As you might imagine, that's the opposite of what one would hope to see happening. So much for "growing" as a photographer!

Part of the blame may go to the time of year-- late winter isn't the most inspiring season for photography, I guess-- but I wonder if Project 365 itself isn't draining photography of fun for me, turning a hobby into a chore. . .

I'll just keep with it and hope for better days-- and maybe try to make a little more of an effort, a little more often.

118/365 - Denim Quilt (in Progress)

118/365 - Denim Quilt (in Progress)

I'm a good way from finished on this quilt. I still have most of the cotton (floral) fabric to sew into the denim "windows".

This has turned out to be a little messier of a project than I'd hoped. I'm sure I'll finish it, and it'll be a blanket (despite the flaws), but I think my next sewing project will be something more straightforward. No more circles, please. (g)

99/365 - Starting a Quilt

99/365 - Starting a Quilt

I've been thinking for a while about making a quilt using circles of denim. I finally decided to give it a try. I think that at this point, I had between 70 and 80 circles cut. Now there are nearly 100 of them, with a goal of 160.

Unless I completely stall out on the sewing, this will probably pop up again in my Project 365.

3/365 - Skipper

3/365 - Skipper

Here's my maternal grandparents' Eskie, Skipper, in one of his favorite spots-- under the bench on the back porch. (The family gathered for lunch and a social afternoon in celebration of Aunt Cathy's birthday.)

In many ways, this isn't a great photograph. It's not quite sharp enough, and is overexposed on the quilt/underexposed on Skipper, but it's still my favorite from today. I think I'm going to go on that basis alone-- whichever photo I like best is the "photo of the day".
