347/365 - Straight From the Camera

This was actually a double rainbow. I posted a few more photos of all these rainbows on my Flickr photostream (for those of you seeing this on my Project 365 blog), but so far, I haven't been completely satisfied with my rainbow photos. It seems pretty tricky to get a rainbow to look as impressive in a photo as it does in real life.

346/365 - Evening Rainbow

This was the third day in a row that I saw a rainbow. (And there was one more still to come!)

331/365 - Blue Sky, Bright Sun

Makes my eyes water just to remember taking this one... (And not in an emotional way. It was just really bright. (g))

...And a hint of some crepuscular rays. (I owe my knowledge of that rather ugly-sounding term to one of our local TV meteorologists, Mr. John Nodar. (g))

298/365 - Stormy Again

Actually, it may not have been that stormy, but it looks like it was, from this photo...

We've certainly been having our share of rain, lately.

(You may have noticed that I skipped photo/day 297. Either I forgot to take a photo that day or the computer ate it. ...Or I accidentally deleted it... At this point in the project, I'm not going to cry whine over a few more missing photos.)

This shower cooled us off quite a bit-- a welcome relief from a stifling heatwave.

Every now and then we get these evenings (as I suppose many places do) when the sky seems to glow-- natural sepia-tone!

Not much to say-- stormy, dramatic clouds + wide angle lens = this photo.

Note: Some of my Project 365 photos have gone missing. Either I deleted them before they were uploaded or they disappeared into a black hole on our computer. Or I never took them at all, and this is just an early sign of insanity. I've looked high and low; they're nowhere to be found, so for present I'm just skipping days 239 through 242 (June 10th through 13th).

234/365 - Threatening Sky

This was the view from our back door as a thunderstorm rolled in. We've been getting a lot of afternoon thunderstorms, lately. It almost feels unusual when we go a day without rain or at least the distant rumble of thunder.

216/365 - Foreboding

I was in the mood for a little murky, eerie imagery today-- and the weather complied-- so the rest of you will just have to suffer through it. ;o)

120/365 - got snow?

Despite some local meteorologists all but promising snow for us, we got nothing. Donald and I saw a few isolated flurries, but nothing more than that. Meanwhile, not far to our north, they were wallowing in the stuff. (Snow hogs.)


I'm still recovering from the disappointment. ;o)

98/365 - Rainy Day

I didn't have much to choose from for this photo-of-the-day. It was either this or a blurry shot of an inch or two of water over the gravel portion of our patio.

It was rainy most of the afternoon and evening. I snapped this after a particularly heavy shower. On days like this, I'm thankful that we don't live in a spot that's prone to flooding.

91/365 - Ortonized Sunset Clouds

Good old Orton effect! It turns a blah photo into something that at least it doesn't hurt to look at (even if it is pretty grainy).

The weather on this evening's walk was much more to my liking. Thank you, Mr. Weatherman, for finally getting around to addressing my complaints. ;o)

88/365 - Cold Car Door

We're still dealing with abnormally cold weather (for an abnormally long period of time), down here. But you probably knew that, because A) most of you reading this probably live within a half-hour drive of us, or B) practically everyone seems to be dealing with extraordinarily wintry weather, this month.

I know I complain a lot about the heat, humidity, thunderstorms and hurricane threat in the summer, but good grief! I'm ready for a little warmer weather now, please.

(There are some more frosty photos in the photostream. Oh, and those of you who routinely laugh in the face of lows in the teens and highs that don't reach 40-- Fahrenheit-- I hope you won't hate me for my weakness. (g))

86/365 - Walking on a Cold Day

We went for a walk with the dogs this afternoon, despite the cold. (According to the forecast, it wasn't supposed to hit 40 today. That's pretty cold, by our standards.)

I think I prefer being inside...

85/365 - Rings in Water

It started sprinkling while were were on a walk around the pond.

It had warmed a little today, but after this rain (and possibly sleet) comes through, we're right back to the very cold weather again. Pile on an extra blanket and prepare to cozy up inside for a while. . .
